Iridium PC Game Description

Iridium Retro Style 2D Shoot ‘Em Up, inspired by: Uridium, Xenon 2 Mega Blast, Nemesis / Gradius and R-Type. Each game is considered a classic in its own right, and offers some unique features, including heavy ships, upgraded shops, in-level upgrades and a variety of weapons. The game is a horizontal shoot, where the player is allowed free movement at each level. Unlike traditional 2D shoot ’em up games, screen scrolls can change the player speed at a fixed rate and rotate the same as the Uridium. Maps are very large and often contain a large number of enemy ships and other objects on the screen at one time. Symbols representing enemies and other important structures that are not on the screen are shown around the edges of the screen. It features a shiny star guide that shows where the player needs to go to improve at each level.

Each upgrade also shows what level they are in by displaying a small progress bar at the top right of their graphic. You can change the updates available later in the game. (NB: All references to the shop, credits or currency are virtual, no extra cost is required for this game). There are 6 levels in total, each having its own custom graphical theme and is made up of four large steps. There are a total of 24 maps to discover and explore. There are 6 different enemy ship types as well as multiple large multi-component ships at each stage. Some ships and land structures issue coins, health pickups, or weapons upgrade credits. A checkpoint system has been implemented to help the player progress and avoid repeating large sections of a stage. Enemy structures and attack patterns can be changed dynamically as the player progresses through a phase.
