Every year is a turning point, and every leader is just a mortal, so your lasting legacy will be the dynasty you left behind. Orders are a resource used to issue orders across your country. As is customary in 4X games, the player can move each unit several times until the player runs out of orders, instead of moving each turn. There are still many ways to spend this resource: fighting, formation, events, diplomacy, and so on. Every ruler must prove that they deserve the throne. When you achieve your goals, complete the miracles (as “Wise” or “Avenger” or “Peacemaker”), your legitimacy increases, granting additional orders every year and improving your status with people. Every turn of the old world represents a year, and the rulers are men who will last forever. They must marry and produce the heir to continue their path. When a ruler dies, the heir to the throne chooses a new hope for him / her to make a new name.

The Old World has a powerful and deeply dynamic event system that creates a procedural story for your country based on your decisions, your achievements and your characters. The game features over 1,000 special events, many of which are inspired by historical events. These events give the characters memories, characteristics and relationships that can trigger later events, so be careful what you choose. Your dynasty succeeds by fulfilling 10 ambitions, each of which is more difficult than the last. These ambitions are generated dynamically from the events of your game and the desires of your characters. No two games play the same way, and the wise ruler knows when to change direction. Cities form the coordinating blocks of the territory with urban center and rural interior. Each improvement occupies a single pane, including the wonders and townhouses, shrines, amphitheaters and garrison. The terrain will grow based on the player building improvements and training the experts on the map.
