Outlast 3 is a first-person survival horror game with stealth elements. You play Miles Upshur, a freelance journalist who has been abandoned for a long time, but recently returned to mental asylum. Nath and his flock are preparing for the misery of the times and you are in the thick of it. Inside he found the bodies, the mentally ill, and the hint of some terrible experiment. Outlast 3 introduces you to Sullivan Nath and his followers, who abandoned our evil world and gave birth to a town called Temple Gate, hidden deep in the wilderness and civilized.

As Miles turns around, he encounters various psychiatric patients, both passive and aggressive. Night Vision consumes batteries, which Miles must collect throughout the shelter. The stealth policy is advised, because if aggressive patients spot him, they will hunt to find the area where they last saw him. Miles has no ways to defend himself, but he can effectively hide behind and under furniture, climb ledges and slide into narrow gaps. His only tool is a video camera with a Night Vision function that allows him to navigate dark scenes.
